1. Data controller

2. Data we collect

Tag owners: email address, optional phone number, and the information you provide about your dog (name, photo, breed, medical notes, etc.).

Finders: name, email, optional phone number, optional message, and optional GPS location — collected when you submit the contact form on a dog profile page.

3. How we use your data

Finder contact information is relayed to the dog owner via email. Your personal data is never displayed on the public dog profile page. Owner email, name, and address are never exposed to finders. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data storage and processing

Data is stored on Supabase (EU region) and processed by Railway (hosting) and Resend (email delivery). All services are GDPR-compliant.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your data at any time. You can delete your account directly from the account settings page, which permanently removes all your data. For any other data requests, email support@pawback.pet.

6. Cookies & analytics

We use a small number of essential cookies required for authentication, language preference, and your shopping cart. These cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under § 25 (2) TTDSG and are always set.

With your consent, we also use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google Ireland Ltd.) to understand how visitors find and use PawBack. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and may transfer aggregated, IP-anonymised data to Google servers. We only load Google Analytics after you click “Accept all” in the cookie banner — if you reject, nothing is loaded.

With your consent, we also use the Meta Pixel (provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.) to measure conversions from our Facebook and Instagram ads and to show our ads to people interested in PawBack. The Meta Pixel sets cookies on your device and transmits data to Meta. As with Google Analytics, the pixel only loads after you click “Accept all” — if you reject, nothing is loaded.

You can withdraw your consent at any time via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. This will stop further data collection on your device.

7. Chatbot (“Bennie”)

The site includes an AI assistant called Bennie powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Bennie can look up your most recent order if you give it your email, verify a tag ID, and sign you up for the newsletter on request. When the chat is open we store the messages you send and the assistant's replies (table dogqr_chat_sessions + dogqr_chat_messages) so our team can review conversations and improve the assistant. We also store a hashed IP for abuse detection — never the raw IP.

If you share your email with Bennie it is saved on the session row as a support contact (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — pre- contractual / support context). It is not auto-added to the newsletter; that still requires the separate double opt-in described in section 8 below. Chat data is processed by Anthropic PBC (USA) under their data processing terms.

We retain chat logs for up to 12 months for support and quality purposes. To request deletion of your chat history, email support@pawback.pet.

8. Newsletter

When you sign up for our newsletter we use a double opt-in process required by German § 7 UWG. We send a confirmation email and only add you to our list after you click the link in that email. The timestamp of your confirmation is stored as proof of consent.

Every newsletter email contains a one-click unsubscribe link (and a List-Unsubscribe header so your mail client can show its native unsubscribe button). Withdrawing consent stops further marketing immediately. We retain a minimal record of the original signup and unsubscribe timestamps to comply with our accountability obligation under GDPR Art. 5(2).

Newsletter contacts are mirrored to Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) for delivery and audience management. The legal basis is your consent under GDPR Art. 6(1)(a).
